Cranking up Turbine

Popular clothing boutique opens in Bishop's Landing.

Fans of Turbine clothing no have longer to make the trip to Falmouth, or wait for the annual sale at the Westin Hotel, as owner Lisa Drader-Murphy has opened Turbine Boutique in Bishop’s Landing (1475 Lower Water).

“Our clients have been asking for years,” says Drader-Murphy, who you might recognize from a recent Come to Life commercial campaign. Although her pretty Falmouth studio has become a destination spot for stylish dressers in the know, the designer says she was waiting until her kids got a bit older to open up a Halifax store.

Drader-Murphy’s designs are practical, yet feminine. We’re especially in love with her vintage plaid handbags and her shrugs, handmade from mohair, merino wool and alpaca. Watch for her spring collection soon, which includes sorbet-hued velvet jackets and shawls, asymmetrical tops and dresses, jewellery and handbags. In early March, Turbine will be celebrating their 10th anniversary with some special in-store events and a re-launch of their cosmetics line that includes new make-up colours, all-mineral formulations and skin care for a variety of skin types.

Winter hours for Turbo Boutique are Tuesday-Thursday, noon-5pm, Friday and Saturday, 11am-6pm.
