Creating the Best Movie Never

Argyle Fine Art asked artists to make posters of the best movie never made---they responded with a fantasy land of inspiration.

"Everything is better with Ewoks." That's how artist Karen van Niekerk sums up her artwork (pictured above) for Best Movie Never, an exhibition of art for the Atlantic Film Festival's Frame X Frame that asked artists to create posters for the best movie never made. "I knew straight away I wanted to do something with Ewoks---they have always been my favourite Star Wars 'creatures,' and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to unleash them in an artwork." Drawing on the George Lucas film and The Wizard of Oz, the graphic designer and vector illustrator says she's naming her final piece The Wizard of Endor. Other artists on the "best movie never made" poster list include Angela Carlsen, Jono Doiron, James Farell, Gordon MacDonald, Jared Betts, Alexandra Emberly, Siobhan Gallagher and Karen Churchless, and a fun night of in-the-gallery postering shouldn't be missed at the reception (Monday, September 20, 9-11pm). You can catch the exhibition until September 28.
