In a world populated with Call of Duty, Halo and Killzone, we have a breath of fresh air: Crysis 2, developed by Crytek Frankfurt and published by Electronic Arts, has shown people how beautiful their shooters can be. Gorgeous lighting effects and fantastic music aside (Hans Zimmer, NBD), Crysis 2 has an interesting way of approaching its gameplay. Entering each area, players are given a number of tactical options. Using the futuristic super suit, players can become practically invisible and sneak around to snipe enemies or make themselves heavily armoured, guns blazing. Having the suit doesn’t make you invincible. You need to take the time to survey your tactics before entering combat. This made Crysis 2 stand out as a more engaging and original shooter. However, the AI can be very inept and it has just the usual grab-bag of multiplayer options, this does not outweigh the originality and replayability of this 11- to 15-hour shooter.
