Imaginative acoustic arrangements keep this David Bowie homage from sounding like a bar band called Scary Monsters. Michel’s fascination with Bowie started when he was barely old enough to sling a guitar; he proves his long-time reverence with lesser known tracks such as “Red Sails” and “Sons of the Silent Age.” Michel strips away much of Ziggy’s glam—you can taste the country dirt in “Young Americans”—but “Andy Warhol” and “Lady Stardust” demand your fanciest dance moves. |
