Dave Marsh and his solo outfit, True Love Rules, have started a four-week run-up of new tunes every Friday at Tribeca for the month of January to get themselves studio ready for album number two. Known as the drummer for the Emergency, of Joel Plaskett's Emergency, Marsh also plays in what he calls his "acoustic banjo mandolin hoe-down" band: Rum Runners. He finds time to play in all three bands while he's not drywalling someone's bedroom (his day job), but is hunkering down this winter to focus on True Love Rules. "*The True Love Rules* [the first album] was kind of eclectic and experimental in a way," he says, adding that he's hoping for more fully-formed songs this time around. "If you want to hear a good chunk of the new album, come on out." –Holly Gordon
