Do you have a documentary idea creeping around in the back of your mind, begging to be put down on film? The Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative is here to help with their first ever course on documentary filmmaking, called DOCU-LAB, starting April 23.

The 15 participants selected will have access to everything from documentary history classes to help with planning, producing and completing a 10 minute documentary. Simple digital cameras and audio equipment will also be on hand to help create these mini-masterpieces.

The course will be led by award-winning documentarian, Walter Forsyth. Forsyth has helped create a variety of documentaries, from the subculture of Rubik’s Cube fanatics, to the lives of AIDs victims in Malawi. He’s been in the director’s seat four times and has screened his films at over 80 festivals worldwide.

Class lectures are scheduled every Monday, from 6-9pm at the AFCOOP office (5663 Cornwallis Street, 405-4474) in Halifax. The cost is $295 for AFCOOP members and $335 for non-members.
