This lecture series features Dr. Jock Murray, who will discuss the ways in which medicine and art are connected. Coffee and snacks will be provided. A neurologist, previous Dean of Medicine at Dalhousie University, Professor Emertius, and previous Professor of Medical Humanities, Dr. Murray specializes in multiple sclerosis. He has spoken numerous times on medical history, literature and art. He is in the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame and has been awarded both the Officer of the Order of Canada and the Officer of the Order of Nova Scotia. In this lecture, Dr. Murray will speak on the artwork of Andrew Wyeth, William Hogarth, Picasso, Rembrandt and Thomas Eakins. He will discuss what the pieces reflected in regards to well being and sickness medically and socially across hundreds of years.
