Drunken slugfest | Opinion | Halifax, Nova Scotia | THE COAST

Dear Lezlie Lowe,

Thanks for "Slug it Out" (Lowedown, June 15). Slugs are a pain in the ass, especially here in the south end. So, like you: my precious new plants, that I spent a month putting in my garden...eaten. Sure enough, the culprits were slugs and snails. So I put out what is called a pit fall, a little cup in the dirt filled half way with beer—yes, this works—but then I went to Canadian Tire, where for $5.50 you can get slug and snail bait, which works even better. Now I can sit back and watch my garden grow, and pick up the dead slugs and throw them to the birds. So don't lose hope, go get your bait. Happy gardening!
