Emily Falencki

When: June 13-Sept. 7 2014

New York-born Nova Scotia-based painter Emily Falencki’s first solo exhibit “mines the ground between traditional portraiture and anonymous representation.” Garnering source material from newspapers, on the internet or on posters around her neighbourhood and using traditional painting techniques including layers of rabbit skin glue and hand sanding, the images are repeated so often that they become almost indistinguishable, giving new meaning to the inspiration.
