I would like to commend Tim Bousquet for exposing the fact that the Nova Scotia government has not met its 2008 targets as outlined in the Environmental Goals and Sustainable Prosperity Act (“Environmental failure, Reality Bites” Jan. 15). The Nova Scotia government needs to be reminded that Nova Scotians are aware of the goals outlined in the Act, and expect them to be met. Hopefully, new environment minister David Morse will be more aware of deadlines than Mark Parent was. With so many environmental problems in our world, we can’t afford to have a government that doesn’t take the environment seriously. The lack of respect for environmental targets does not inspire much faith that this government does take them seriously.
