There's really not much separating Epic, the CGI feature about a tiny world of eco-warriors and their talking animal pals, from 1992's FernGully. But, everyone liked FernGully, right? Amanda Seyfried lends her voice to M.K., a sunken teenager who shrinks down and discovers a secret world of tiny magic after moving in with her estranged scientist father. Said world contains the brave Leafmen (led by Colin Farrell), who must protect Queen Tara (Beyoncé Knowles) from the rot king Mandrake (Christoph Waltz) in time to choose her successor. M.K., and a pair of snails voiced by Chris O'Dowd and Aziz Ansari, tag along for the cleverly animated ride. Jibber jabber about the connectivity of nature and other nonsense is sprinkled about only enough to justify why a society of hummingbird-riding knights must fight crows. A movie with a dancing glowworm voiced by Steven Tyler, Epic is a movie with a dancing glowworm voiced by Steven Tyler. —Jacob Boon
