Directed by Dominic Polcino (Fox)

After taking on the original 1977 Star Wars movie with Blue Harvest, the college wet-dream cartoon Family Guy is back with an Empire Strikes Back parody. I've been a Family Guy fan from the start---with no shame in it---but even I'm starting to get a little tired of the repetitive jokes and increasingly dull pop culture references. Dark Side is perhaps the worst Seth MacFarlane and the gang have done yet. There's barely a laugh and unless you're the type that thinks Mort Goldman as Lando is chuckle-worthy, you'll be stone-faced. If you're a Star Wars freak who's pleased enough by an animated recreation, this might hit the spot, but not if you're looking for anything more. Family Guy needs to adapt and freshen up, before it goes the way of The Simpsons. This DVD does not help their cause.
