Remarks: Even serial plant killers know the importance of good drainage. In a city as rainy as Halifax, it’s crucial. The planters were originally built several months ago, at which time they remained empty for a few months, effectively demonstrating for everyone the cycle of evaporation. Rainwater filled these things and refused to drain, which, we might add, is a hazard. Until one dry day, the planters were filled. Surprise, surprise, they’re still filled with water and stay that way. Our easy solutions: drill a few holes already, or grow water lilies. Either one is fine with us.
