A reading of Ali Joy Richardson's latest script, Fool starts off on a sharp note: "The Queen has died. The King is looking for a new Fool. Jane, a peasant player, lands her dream gig and moves into the castle to work for the King," the synopsis reads. Based on the only female jester in recorded English history, it examines the place for humour when the world is in tatters.
