"If you thought what I did before was outsider, this new record is explosive," says Halifax singer-songwriter Gianna Lauren. "I'm really looking forward to playing these new songs live." She says she's surprised herself with the follow-up to On Personhood.

For her first show at The Marquee, Lauren will be joined by drummer Marshall Bureau, bassist Tavo Diez de Bonilla and Forward Music Group labelmate Michael Feuerstack: "This opportunity is an honour for me. I'm excited that the Pop Explosion has taken notice that I've been working really hard."

This year, Lauren recorded at The House of Miracles in Ontario and in Halifax with Daniel Ledwell, went on two European tours and will start a music residency in Banff this spring. As CKDU's station coordinator, she's felt fostered by the Halifax community and campus radio stations across the country, and been very well-received and supported across the Atlantic. "The European market is really on board with the more arty, outside-the-box music that I make, so big shoutouts to Music Nova Scotia and Forward Music for helping with that exposure," she says.
