Girls Learning Code is excited to present our Holiday image editing and animation workshop for girls 8-13. With a holiday theme, this workshop encourages exploration of the festive holiday season. Through this hands-on learning experience, girls will discover how to use Pixlr, a browser based image editing software. This tool was selected because it is free, which will encourage girls to continue developing their skills beyond the workshop. The girls will gain confidence in the basics of design and photo editing, including superimposing images, creating unique shapes and compositions, playing with colour theory and much more! Girls with an artistic and creative passion will love exploring their skills in a technological (and festive!) way. Girls will also learn how to create simple animations using Scratch, a beginner level programming environment. Applying mathematical and computational skills to animation, imagination will come to life throughout the day in a new and digitally engaging form. Girls will also be introduced to Scratch's amazing online community where they will have the opportunity to upload their animations for anyone on the web to download and watch.
