What's with the sexist ads that ran in last week's Coast? It's disappointing to see a widely read paper with a community-based, liberal feel run a Hooters recruitment ad, along with a full-page, colour ad for X-citement video. I know advertising is how the paper is funded, but I would love to draw the line somewhere a little closer in. If I wanted to see images of scantily clad, skinny white women, I would read a magazine. Or turn on a TV. Or go online. Or look on the side of my soymilk container. Or read the ads at the bus stop...and so on.
