Give it up for Timeraiser

Trading volunteer hours for artwork? Priceless.

Give it up for Timeraiser
Here's hoping Halifax's first Timeraiser will be this packed.

Wouldn't it be awesome if everyday life worked like a Timeraiser event? There's something you really want, but you don't have the cash to treat yourself. Then there's this incredible organization that needs extra hands, and hey---you're happy to share yours. It's a brilliant model to not just get people growing their personal art collections but to get the word out about community organizations that could really use some help, and it's hitting Halifax for the first time in hopes of raising 3000 volunteer hours. Stunning works from Sarah Burwash, Natalie Boterman, Rebecca Roher, Daniel Espeset, Claire Seringhaus and 10 other local artists are up for grabs and it's likely you'll to grab all of them, but not until you get goods on organizations like Habitat for Humanity, United Way Halifax, Live Art Dance and The Khyber and what opportunities they've got for you. Then you'll place your bid(s) of up to 100 hours on the piece(s) of your choice and hope for a big win. Say someone outbids you, or you can't spare a square of wall space---your pledge of time is still very welcome, in fact, it's encouraged. See, everyone's a winner at Timeraiser.

Thursday November 1, Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, 1055 Marginal Road, 7pm, timeraiser.ca
