The 2012 DJ Olympics get ready to crown someone new.

Largely a staple of turntablism (can I get a wicka-wicka-wha?), the long running DJ Olympics returns after a postponement earlier in the year. Citing venue and funding issues organizers vowed to not "half-ass our way through this event." Pitting DJs, beatboxers and MCs against each other, competitors have 15 minutes to wow the crowd and a panel of industry veteran judges. From hip-hop to dubstep to house music there will be a little something for everyone's tastes. New to this year's competition is the controversial addition of a controller category which pulls the DJ away from the turntables and plants them in front of a never ending variety of hardware and software packages. Judging from the hundreds of sadly now deleted Facebook posts, it's set to be the most hotly anticipated competition in this annual battle of skills.
