Spit-polish your bowling shoes and grab a ball---Halifax is Burning's Trevor Murphy is taking you to Fairlanes this Sunday in the name of CKDU fundraising. "I'm a fan of having shows in unorthodox places and I friggen' love bowling," writes the man behind the year-old CKDU radio show. When station co-ordinator Erica Butler suggested a bowling night before CKDU's funding drive begins (October 1 to 7), Murphy was all over it. Bands Windom Earle, Myles Deck & The Fuzz and Writer's Strike (formerly First Aid Kit) are taking over the arcade game corner for this all-ages shebang, and 15 bones will get you in and playing all night. Murphy has more than bowling strikes to be excited about, though---Halifax is Burning was just nominated as Music Nova Scotia's Radio Program of the Year---against Route 104 (Q104), Atlantic Airwaves (CBC), East Coast Countdown and That East Coast Show (CKBW). "I'm extremely excited about the nomination!" he writes. "I am the only independent show, all of the other nominees are commercial radio shows or CBC shows, so I really hope I can pull in the win." Music Nova Scotia members can vote for Murphy's show at vod.votenet.com/musicnova-scotia/login.cfm and you can tune in Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
