The Ha!ifax Comedy Festival is in full swing, and the only downside is that you can't get to every single show. One you definitely don't want to miss is Thursday's Homegrown Show, where you can support exclusively Halifax-based comedians. The show will be hosted by the hilarious Bill Wood of Picnicface fame and will feature fellow Picnicfacers Cheryl Hann and Brian McQuarrie, as well as Bryant Thompson, Travis Lindsay and the winner of the third annual Ha!ifax's Funniest, Catherine Robertson. From the observational silliness of Lindsay's material to Robertson's confessions of her life's everyday absurdities---and she seems to be dealt more than the average share of crazy---there's something for everyone in this local batch of talent. So come out and support your neighbourhood comedians. If for no other reason, you'd be really helping Lindsay stick it to his high school guidance counsellor, who said "comedy is a nice 'hobby' to have, but will never be a real job."

Thursday, April 25, 8pm, Yuk Yuk's Comedy Club, Westin Nova Scotian Hotel, 1181 Hollis Street, 429-9857, $20
