It's getting to be that time of year, where the nights are getting colder and your feet start itching to be on the beach. While Jeff Goodspeed can't promise sand between your toes, he is doing his best to transport you to Cuba, bringing musical heat in support of his Los Primos Society. Goodspeed started Los Primos in 1997 and has since been building a cultural relationship with young musicians in Cuba by sending instruments and setting up musical exchanges for young budding players. Havana Nights, the fourth annual gala for Los Primos, is a night not to be missed with a cocktail reception and performances from Los Primos Satellite groups from Tantallon and Dartmouth to start the night. Then things really heat up. At 9pm Halifax Salseros stomp in with a quick dance lesson and then, a fiery performance that'll inspire your feet for the rest of the night. The floor will then be yours with Latin Groove and renowned Cuban vocalist Augusto Enriquez, an artist with a impressive all-star resume. (Goodspeed tells The Coast, Enriquez has just been invited to join Sting in both Italy and Brazil this spring. Nice one!) Goodspeed, Enriquez and the 11-piece Havanafax will also visit the Chester Playhouse on Saturday, and Stayners on Monday.

Thu Nov 10, Mic Mac Amateur Aquatic Club, 192 Prince Albert Road, Dartmouth, 7pm (doors), $30, 464-9480, losprimos.ca
