The Open Projects 2011-2012 invites anyone with creative interest and an investment in civic spaces to propose installations, intended for public domain. Artists are encouraged to consider their environment and submit ideas that give the area new energy. Submission deadline is 4pm on Wednesday, June 1.
Non-profit arts organizations are encouraged to take part in an HRM Residency Initiative. The plan is to provide space, an honorarium or both to arts organizations that facilitate lodging within the city. In exchange, the organizations are expected to take care of the managerial work necessary to host an artist-in-residence. Submission deadline is 4pm on Friday, May 20.
As well, the 2011 Contemporary Visual Art Purchase Program is seeking submissions from contemporary visual artists who reside in HRM. The purpose is to showcase local talent and support young visual artists. Five artists will be chosen to display their work in an exhibition for one-to-two months. The winner will receive $10,000. Submission deadline 4pm on Friday, May 27.
