In-Flight Safety's taking off

The indie-rockers play one last hometown gig before shipping out to Europe.

It's pretty good to be In-Flight Safety right now. This month, they'll hit South by Southwest and Canadian Music Week before leaving on a jet plane across the pond for their first European tour. The band's 2009 release We Are An Empire, My Dear has recently been picked up by both UK label Conehead and Germany's Waggle Daggle, resulting in a slew of dates in Germany, the Netherlands, France and England and a sort of rebirth for the album. After a brief stint back home in April, they'll head back to the UK for most of May and then start chipping away at their next release. In-Flight's John Mullane says that while this is a crazy exciting time for the band, there's also something sort of sad about Friday's show at The Paragon Theatre, as it marks the last hurrah for the album. "It's kind of a mourning. This will be the last time playing these tracks in Halifax, for our Halifax fans." Head out to celebrate We Are An Empire, My Dear's great run and kick-off In-Flight's March madness.

Fri Mar 4, The Paragon Theatre, 2037 Gottingen Street, 10pm, $15/17
