Insidious: Chapter 2 picks up the moment its predecessor leaves off. Wise psychic Elise has just been strangled and the Lambert family must leave their home while police investigate her murder. The family lodges at grandmother Lorraine's house where the hauntings continue and the focus shifts to saving father Josh. There's a sinister presence inhabiting Josh's body and soon everyone, living and dead, is working to exorcise the malicious entity. Although sequels can often be questionable at best, it bodes well when the director and cast reprise their roles. Horror maestro James Wan ensures that the second installment of Insidious is not a lazy reenactment of the first. There is some repetition but Chapter 2 succeeds as a logical continuation--- not a copy. This sequel answers questions and provides context while keeping the drama engrossing and the tension high.
