Turns out Jay-Z wasn’t (in)famous enough to assume the throne, and thanks to the success of his Roc-A-Fella label, he’s stepping down to focus on his empire. Biggie and Tupac injected social commentary into their raps, but Hova’s swan song suffers from the fact that he has nothing new to say. We believed DMX when he said he was retiring—how long until Jay-Z releases his comeback album? —Trevor Savory
