Published October 23, 2003.JetGet Born(Elektra)Jet’s debut, released in the band’s native Australia four years ago, might have fallen on more fertile ground had it come stateside then. But a horde of garage bands have been flooding the market; is there room for one more? Yes, if the material is strong enough—a point Get Born fails to make half the time. The strongest tracks ride a surge of volume and muscle much like the bands Jet clearly admires (The Who, AC/DC). But when the band tries to pull off a ballad or brings in a piano, its limitations become all too obvious.—Dave Hayden
