HRM should support the local community rinks that already exist and can be maintained at minimal cost. The BMO centre cost approx. $40,000,000 for 4 rinks, that is $10 million per rink plus operating cost, and it is still empty for most of the daytime hours. An existing rink's only expense is operating costs.

The Bowles arena is accessible to the people live, work, and go to school in the community. Putting rinks in the middle of the industrial park makes no sense at all. Try getting a bus to Dartmouth crossing from Cole Harbour...very painful.

All I see here is dumping more money to contractors outside of HRM instead of leaving the money in tax payers pockets. That's the problem and it is not just the rinks HRM is doing this to; it is happening throughout the municipal government...Shame on you HRM
