A great holiday gift to you, the arts-loving community, is the always-welcomed news of a new gallery space in Halifax. Behind the strange and wonderful creative hub that is Plan B merchants co-op you'll find (Parentheses), a gallery and art project from owners, curators and familiar faces in the arts community are Kevin Lewis and Coast writer Dave Hayden. Started with the goal of shedding light on art that they're passionate about, the pair will bring diverse events, exhibits and installations that'll remind you of artists that are right under your nose, and showcase brilliant, new-to-you works from away. Their first exhibit brings you into the brain of NSCAD grad Kim Dawn, who'll challenge your perceptions of beauty with It's I'm Not Pretty, a powerful collection of portraits and objects inspired by women that she's met. Celebrate the grand opening of the gallery this Friday, and keep your ear to the grindstone for what else will be found within (Parentheses).

Dec 16- Jan 16, (Parentheses) in Plan B, 2180 Gottingen Street, opening reception Friday December 16, 7-9pm
