Catch these shows before they close

This is that time between the wind-down of summer and the gear-up for fall when most galleries don't have openings as they switch between exhibition seasons. So we want to shine a light on some of the summer shows you need to catch before they close this week. The huge Aboriginal show Snapshot closes at the Khyber on August 17, as does Peter Thompson's The Daily Procedure at (((Parentheses))) and a pair of shows by Mary Garouette and Melissa Townsend at Argyle Fine Art plus VANS in The Hub (finished August 20). So really you should start at Argyle and work your way north—-how often do you have three stops on Barrington Street?---and this may also be a good time to remind you that the Museum of Natural History's costume exhibit is in its final days too. Nobody talks about this, and it's not even under a light, but they have the freakin' Wicked Witch of the West's hat.
