After reading the round table discussion on city violence, I'm surprised that Mr. Jones doesn't go about wearing a tin foil hat to deflect all the racist thought waves he seems to believe emanate from white people 24/7. He may feel safer in the Square than the south end, but that is a purely emotional response based on his own knee-jerk racism, not on reality.

While it is a fact that blacks make up a ridiculously disproportionate percentage of the victims of violent crime in North America, they are almost without exception the victims of other black people---and other minorities. That is the hard truth.

So blame poverty, blame oppression, blame the media, blame whatever you want, but DON'T go creeping through affluent white neighborhoods looking over your shoulder, as though you should fear for your safety. It would only make you look like an ignorant jackass.
