Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in Canada. It is estimated that one in 2.7 Canadians die from heart disease or stroke. Take a look around – that means that one of almost every three people will likely be affected by heart related problems at sometime in their life. We, at the Maritime Heart Center (MHC), believe we can change that statistic with research, education, prevention, community involvement – and your support.
The MHC, located in Halifax, is a non-profit organization that is committed to promoting healthy lifestyles throughout the Maritime Provinces, providing world-class care to patients with heart disease and creating a community of doctors and caregivers for these patients. Through partnerships, we are dedicated to sharing and distributing research information, educating patients and the public on cardiac care, and promoting the recognition, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
The MHC is dedicated to promoting heart-healthy lifestyles and passionate about giving the gift of life. As February is National Heart Month, I encourage you to become a Heart Health Innovator and help the people you hold dear at heart by supporting the MHC.
