Finding a venue smaller than the Metro Centre yet bigger than a restaurant can be a shitty endeavour for Halifax bands. Luckily for hip-hop artists, a one-of-a-kind event is rolling into Winston's Pub this week called Live Music Thursdays. Taking place weekly---and possibly decreasing to one Thursday a month---will be a night for hip-hop artists to bare their talent to Halifax. "[Rappers] in the city don't have a venue for practicing their craft," explains Jennifer Halpin, a manager at Winston's. "DJ IV came to us and said there's a crowd of hip-hop artists in need of a venue." Although Clayton Park is more of a neighbourhood than a destination, Halpin believes a hip-hop show "uptown" will draw great attention from crowds. "Hip-hop in Halifax," says Jay Mayne, who will be performing at Live Music Thursdays' debut, "is still growing for sure."
