1313 Hollis Street Venue Opens

In a metropolis booming with musicians the lack of performance spaces has become an issue. 1313 Hollis (1313 Hollis), formerly home to Comfy Corner Café, hopes to help fill this void. Founded by Susan Hunter, Jerry Granelli and John Siemens, the new workshop/performance space is designed to serve Halifax’s musical community with affordable rates and the best possible environment to nurture creativity. Whether you are a performer searching for a venue, or thinking of attending a workshop, 1313 Hollis officially opens its doors with an improvisational concert on July 6.

“1313 Hollis is a space for musicians and others in the arts community to rent for workshops or concerts. It is not a jam or rehearsal space,” says Lulu Healy, 1313’s on-site manager. “There are no regular hours; it is a planned event oriented space. The idea is that it is an affordable multi-purpose/use venue that has a great location, excellent acoustics for live music. A place where people will soon associate as a hub for creative happenings in the city and somewhere to see quality live music that is also all ages.”
