Luna/Sea's all-woman Twelfth Night is wonderful

Play is great, cast is great, music is great, Cathedral Church of All Saints as stage is superb.

Sure, you're probably as busy as one of Santa's elves right now, but I highly recommend taking an evening off to see Luna/Sea's wonderful all-woman production of Twelfth Night. It's a classic Shakespearean comedy with all the mistaken identities, wise fools and foolish courtiers that you'd expect, but with an added seasonal bonus of several gloriously rendered carols. The music is no mere add-on, however, since many of the songs have a surprising resonance with the scenes they are in. No one actor can be singled out for praise since this cast of 11 women is uniformly impressive. The Cathedral Church of All Saints provides a beautiful ready-made set, and the rich colours of the costumes echo those of the newly painted interior. The Christmas season should be filled with music and laughter and this production is bursting with both.

December 17-19, December 21-23, Cathedral Church of All Saints, 5732 College Street, 7:30pm, $15-$20
