Memorial Day Ceremony at Deadman’s Island

When: Mon., May 31, 11-11:30 a.m. 2010

Historians have concluded that nearly 200 American Prisoners of the War of 1812 died while confined on Melville Island, on the Northwest Arm and are buried on Deadman’s Island. The U.S. Consul General in Halifax and local U.S. Navy Exchange Officers will hold an informal ceremony to honor these American servicemen.
