Caught me shreddin': Minglewood

Digging through the thousands of albums at the Halifax Record Fair a few weeks ago, the same names kept coming up in the flip: Springsteen, Zeppelin, Supertramp, Fleetwood Mac. And Matt Minglewood. In a town with so many bands, and so many enduring locals, it's easy to forget a legend walks amongst us every day. Minglewood---that's all you need to say, no "Matt" is necessary, though his real name is Roy---began playing music in 1966 and released his first LP, The Red Album, in 1975, followed-up by records on RCA and CBS with a Best of from BMG in 1992. He's produced his last three records and hundreds of searing guitar parts and he's headlining the Shore Club this weekend, the first real weekend of summer no matter what the weather turns out to be. When you go wear, comfortable shoes---there's no way you'll be sitting down.

Saturday June 23, Shore Club, 250 Shore Club Road, Hubbards, 857-9555, shoreclub.ca, $20, 9:30pm
