Moksha Yoga opens in Bedford

Talk about a hot topic

Bedford is about to get a whole lot hotter. On April 22, Moksha Yoga will be opening up its second HRM location at 65 Dellridge Lane. The studio will keep with the Moksha mission of helping customers stretch, strengthen and tone their muscles —all in a studio cranked up to 37 degrees. The idea to open a location in Bedford has been in discussion for over a year and co-owner Joanna Thurlow hopes the convenient new space will draw in a more diverse cliental. With the first location resting just off Spring Garden (1512 Dresden Row), it has become a hot spot (literally) for students. “There is a pretty dynamic and diverse client range that comes, but it’s a lot of students,” says Thurlow. “We’re hoping in Bedford to open up the yoga community to more professionals, maybe people a little older who don’t want to come to Halifax.”

Equipped with two studios, the whole space has been done with the environment in mind. As with all Moksha studios, cork will be used for the floors and radiant heat panels will be used to create that sweaty atmosphere. “There aren’t a lot of businesses that really go the distance, but we do,” says Thurlow. The studio will also be hosting free classes all throughout opening week, so be sure to take advantage of the opportunity—who knows the next time you’ll be able to justify surrounding yourself with 60 sweaty strangers?
