"This should really be about Graeme [Stewart]," says Josh Salter of the young pup who's teaching old dogs Salter (Quivers), Seamus Dalton (Nap Eyes) and Andrew Patterson (The Bad Arts) some new tricks. On a debut cassette that's part soda-pop-malt-shoppe, part shoegaze math-rock, Monomyth write and play to its strengths, touring Canada until July before another release of recorded goods. Loud but intricate, Salter says Stewart adds youth: "Mythically, he'd be Pan, or a nymph or a seraphim? So many words for things that don't exist. Andrew's probably a centaur." It's an epic in the making.
