Nardwuar the Human Serviette
(Mint Records)
Nardwuar is more than a goofy guy in a plaid tam-o’-shanter asking Corey Feldman about cocaine or flashing his chest hair at Marilyn Manson. He’s a walking, talking pop culture encyclopedia. He’s a hyperkinetic, loud-mouthed, lovable vault of underground music history. He’s the guy who elicited the famous pepper quote from Jean Chretien. Included on this five-and-a-half hour, two-disc collection are one-of-a-kind interviews with politicians and rock stars, live performances of the Nard’s bands The Evaporators and Thee Goblins, his two MuchMusic specials and a 16-page booklet with Nard news clippings. A real treat is a behind-the-scenes look at Nardwuar’s attempt at a third interview with Snoop Doggy Dogg. It’s a real nail-biter as Nardwuar gathers his interview supplies, plots his questioning strategy and waits…and waits…and waits for Snoop to show. If you already hate Nardwuar, these clips (including one where Nardwuar goes head to head with Nardwuar!) aren’t going to do much to help you change your mind. If you previously did not know who or what Nardwuar is, Nardwuar the Human Serviette is a fun crash-course introduction. If you already love the Nard, then doot doola doot doo, doot do the right thing and pick it up.
