Natal Day soundtrack

The long weekend is offering up tons of music. And it’s free.

Natal Day soundtrack
Free Old Man Luedecke, we likey.

While some long weekends mark a mass exodus of people skipping town to camp, swim and take really long drives, Natal Day weekend is tempting us to stay put in the HRM. We're talking free music, every day. Here's what the weekend has to offer. Saturday sees Gordon Tucker, Doris Mason, Mike Cowie, Rasta Gumbo and Salsa Picante on the Common (kicking off at noon) and a rare opportunity for free Wintersleep (with guests Jay Smith, The Stogies, Alert the Medic, Town Heroes and Gloryhound) at Alderney Landing starting at 4pm. Sunday has gospel and urban music on the Common (from 1-9pm) celebrating the United Nation's Year for People of African Descent and former Barenaked Ladies troublemaker Steven Page at Alderney Landing with Old Man Luedecke and Carmen Townsend beginning at 5pm. Monday's offering music at Sullivan's Pond and the Dingle in the afternoon and, of course, you can march to the beat of the parade starting at 10am. See our Natal Day listings on page 24 or at thecoast.ca.
