The space is yours. You just gotta fill it.

The good deed bug must have bitten the kind folks at Neptune hard. Fresh from their generous donation of theatre space for the 2011 Atlantic Fringe Festival, we receive this lovely announcement:

"Neptune Theatre in collaboration with Theatre Nova Scotia announces the Open Spaces Program. Three eligible theatre companies will be awarded Studio Theatre rental space free of charge for one week each.

The spirit behind the Open Spaces rental program is to provide support to professional theatres in Nova Scotia who have demonstrated a strong artistic sensibility but may not operate within a well-developed administrative or financial infrastructure.

Christopher Shore, Executive Director of Theatre Nova Scotia, says, 'Our province’s theatre companies have a reputation for producing artistically strong work. Many companies don’t operate their own venue and the cost of renting a professional performance space can sometimes challenge a company’s ability to disseminate their work. The Open Spaces program seeks to counteract the venue barrier.'

Applications must be mailed or hand delivered and by 5pm Friday, December 30, 2011 to Theatre Nova Scotia. Email applications are not accepted. A complete list of application guidelines is posted on: http://www.theatrens.ca/"

Get in there, cuz!
