Nickelback | Music | Halifax, Nova Scotia | THE COAST

Published October 02, 2003.NickelbackThe Long Road (Roadrunner)Nickelback have never tried to be more than they are, never veering off into uncharted territory (Radiohead), or moving toward a pop sound (Sugar Ray, Jewel). They make rock music, plain and simple. The Long Road should have been the follow-up to The State, rather than to the overproduced Silver Side Up: It marks a return to form, moving away from Creed territory, reminiscent of the “Leader of Men” sound that made the band media whores in the first place. The Long Road is one decent rock album. —Trevor Savorycategories: Canadian artist,Juno nominee (2006)
