Nocturne presents: Womanhood: From the Outside In

When: Sat., Oct. 18, 6 p.m. 2014

A personal response from women of colour about how they think of, view and interpret Womanhood. An exhibit of women exploring art from the peripherals while creating and maintaining ‘their centres’. These artists seek to create dialogue around Womanhood and the idea of what it means to be a woman of colour living in Halifax. Artists: Kim Cain (sculpture) and Wendie Poitras (India ink and acrylics) internalize their response through their chosen mediums. Using womanist, social activist and author bell hook’s theory of moving from ‘Margin to Centre’, these woman will explore what it means to understand, interpret and celebrate life from the margins.
