Zimbabwe-born Shelly Muchayi had been selling her imported African goods and food from the back of a van and at farmers markets since 2000, but people kept asking her if she had a store they could visit. Now, finally, she does: Opened August 24 at the former location of Good Food Emporium on Gottingen Street is NovaAfrican Designs, Artifacts & Cuisine, or NADA Cuisine for short. Stop by for spicy or mild Zimbabwe chicken, rice, vegetables and soups, where 28 can sit at tables. Fewer booths means there's a little more space than was allotted at the old GFE, and nothing on the menu is more than $9.99. If you drop by---hours are 8am-8:30pm, Monday to Friday---you'll also find a separate section of fine imported goods: gifts and baskets, as well as jewellery Muchayi makes herself.
