Oh No, Theodore! is about to have a birthday. The Fredricton-based band will turn one next month, and what a year it's been. "Where I was last February, I never would have imagined I'd be playing in a different city every other weekend," says frontman Jeremy McLaughlin. This time last year McLaughlin was doing his thing as a singer-songwriter and, one by one, his outfit grew to include six friends and acquaintances toting instruments that wound up providing the perfect injection of energy to the music. Taking its name from one of their songs, "Theodore the Monster," the band's already released its first EP How to Move Without Your Shoes and been chosen to play the Discovery Stage at the ECMAs. And next on its plate is a late-spring tour to Ontario with Fredricton friends Hungry Hearts. If this is only year one, 2011 better look out.

Thursday Feb 24, Gus' Pub, 2605 Agricola Street, 10pm, $5
