To the editor,
I'm writing in regards to Megan Wennberg's Shop Talk column "Paint for life" (May 25). As the owner of Dandy-Lion Eco Interior Painting, I was pleased that Megan took the time to include me in her column; however, a large portion of the article joked about me "painting myself out of a job," and I think anyone truly interested in making socially conscious consumer choices will benefit from the following missing information.
We strive to be a sustainable business, which includes practices such as researching and sourcing local "green" suppliers, paying employees fair living wages and recycling and re-using waste on work sites. The business is also completely operated by bike. Also, I would like to clarify that I am not "eager to educate people on the negative effects of standard latex paint"—rather, our passion is to raise awareness about creative, healthy alternatives for our clients' homes.
Most importantly, support from my local community is key to sustaining a profitable and progressive business, and I encourage those interested to call or email for more information at 404-1742 or [email protected].
