To the editor,
Surely you meant 2006 Best of "Peninsular" Halifax Readers' Poll?
You could do some of you peninsular Halifax readers a favour by printing a map to some outdoor locations within Halifax Regional Municipality they have obviously missed. Crystal Crescent Beach is pretty, but can hardly compare to the majesty of Martinique Beach, only 40 minutes from downtown. This beach is so big few people could care whether you're nude or not! To those who consider Shubie Park a biking location, I would suggest one of a number of excellent Rails to Trails locations in the region and certainly the new Dartmouth waterfront trail. And while there is no arguing Point Pleasant Park is a nice place for a walk, for a hike you must at least take the 20-minute drive to Oakfield Provincial Park for an invigorating 90-minute jaunt around a clearly marked trail. Chocolate Lake might be an urban marvel, but is easily dwarfed by Grand Lake when it comes to local fresh-water bodies.
