Pretty in punk

Chelle & Adam, Married October 30, 2010

A graveyard may not be the typical backdrop for wedding photos, but for Chelle Wootten and Adam Bowes it was picture-perfect. The pair started as best friends, who later became partners in both life and business, running Chelle Wootten Photography (yes, Chelle even helped to shoot her own wedding). Busy capturing other people’s weddings, Chelle says that at first their planning got put on the back burner, but luckily she and Adam shared a vision for the day. “We wanted it to be the most untraditional traditional wedding,” she says, “kind of quirky and very our own, but with traditional things like a bouquet and garter toss and first dances.” A combination of her love for horror movies and his punk rock background set the tone for their big day, which was kept simple with lots of DIY help from friends and family. And Chelle’s tear-away wedding gown came in handy for the post-dinner punk show, which included a special performance from the groom’s band The Crimson Tides.
