Baltimore-based artist Rachael Shannon doesn't just build sculptures. She builds spaces, creating a division in public spheres. Her inflatable architecture might be familiar to those at this year's Nocturne, as she created the soft dome titled Breastival Vestibule.
After the Fire Marshall of Halifax deemed the structure unsafe to enter, Shannon has been dreaming of how to re-work the vestibule so it can "meet the public". Enter her newest project, Resistance as Usual, which sees the soft, cloud-like spheres that acted like bricks for Breastival Vestibule broken apart, wrapped in text and scattered like cells for viewers to explore.
